Transition Sooke is looking for selfie videos on the topic of growth in Sooke. Recent development has greatly increased traffic and much of our affordable housing has been lost. If you are concerned about the effects of rapid population growth in Sooke, this is the time to speak in support of the community you care about.
In June 2020, the District of Sooke began to develop a new Official Community Plan (OCP), which sets the course for development over the next 10 years. Dialog, which was hired to do the OCP, has produced a summary of its public engagement. What they heard were concerns about too much traffic, lack of affordable housing, and desire to keep the small-town feel and greenspaces.
Transition Sooke wants to reach out to a broad range of citizens and find out what they think. We have a series of short questions and we are asking Sooke residents of all ages to make videos of their answers. Transition Sooke will highlight some of the video results on social media and will use others to stimulate discussions at an online Town Hall meeting.
For more information as well as instructions on how to make your selfie video, contact Alan Dolan at email@example.com Deadline for submitting videos is Feb. 22, 2021.
