In anticipation of recruiting new primary care providers to the community, West Coast Family Medical Clinic is now accepting applications for the waitlist for registration with a primary care provider at West Coast Family Medical Clinic.
At this time we are unable to accept patients who already have a primary care provider (family physician or nurse practitioner) OR who do not live in the Sooke area OR who do not have a BC Care Card Number.
The waitlist will be managed according to a number of factors, including medical need and practice composition.
Please be aware the waitlist will NOT be “first come, first served.”
West Coast Family Medical Clinic is an interdisciplinary clinic, with both family physicians and nurse practitioners providing primary care services. This waitlist is to join any open practice. We cannot guarantee a specific primary care provider, nor can we guarantee the gender of a primary care provider. Additionally, care may also be provided by other member of the interdisciplinary care team at times, including registered nurses, social workers, registered dieticians, medical residents, and medical students.
To submit an application for the waitlist, please return to a completed new patient waitlist registration form to the clinic by mail:
West Coast Family Medical Clinic
1300-6660 Sooke Road
Sooke, BC, V9Z 0A5
Application forms are available on our website https://westcoastfamilymedical.com/.
Completed forms will not be accepted in-person at the clinic.
Please note that by submitting a form, you are not guaranteed to be registered with a primary care provider at West Coast Family Medical Clinic. You will be contacted by our office if you are registered with a primary care provider. PLEASE DO NOT CONTACT THE OFFICE TO ENQUIRE ABOUT YOUR POSITION ON THE WAIT-LIST.
Construction of a 1,400 square foot expansion to the West Coast Family Medical Clinic was recently completed. The expansion has added 5 new clinical exam rooms, a minor surgical procedure room, a telehealth room to allow certain specialists in Victoria to assess patients in Sooke with the help of a registered nurse, a new conference room with videoconferencing capabilities to allow for group medical visits, and new administrative spaces for the clinic nurses and medical office assistants. The expansion will allow the West Coast Family Medical Clinic team to add new members. Two new registered nurses joined the team in July, and a new nurse practitioner is expected to arrive in mid-September. Recruitment of two new family physicians is ongoing. This expansion is the result of a collaboration between the existing physicians at West Coast Family Medical Clinic, Island Health, the South Island Division of Family Practice, and the Sooke Primary Health Services Working Group, with support from the Provincial Government.
