On May 5th 2019, the West Shore RCMP received a complaint from a member of the public who witnessed a group of youth spray paint public property, including a building and hydro box near the bus exchange on Station Avenue in Langford.
West Shore police officers attended and located two girls, ages 12 and 13 who were identified by witnesses as spray painting the property.
Both girls were arrested for mischief and released to their parents. They are both required to appear in court.
“Defacing public and private property effects the community in several ways,” said Cst. Saggar, Media Relations Officer of the West Shore RCMP.
“One of which is the sheer cost of cleaning up the damage, but also graffiti has the potential to attract other criminal activity to the area. We want to thank the witnesses who came forward and called us right away.”
