Watch as Cst. Cole Brewer of the First Nations Policing Unit at West Shore RCMP asks for permission to come ashore during the canoe protocol ceremony. The ceremony and traditional canoe races were held at the Esquimalt Lagoon, the traditional lands of Songhees and Esquimalt Nations. This event took place in honor of National Indigenous Peoples Day on June 21st 2019.
