The November 30th wind storm saw power outages and road closures in and around Sooke.
In the wake of an intense cold front, westerly winds of 70 gusting to 90 km/h have developed near Juan de Fuca Strait. These winds will abate this afternoon.
Separate power outages caused 3051 BC Hydro customers to be without power in Sooke, 69 along Phillips Road, 790 in Saseenos to Metchnosin, 1139 in East Sooke, 494 along Juan de Fuca Strait (Shirley and Jordan River), and 415 in Port Renfrew.

Schools remained open but parents were later invited to pick up their students as a result of continued power outages. Schools remain open and staffed.
A downed tree closed West Coast Road near Fishboat Bay Road (between Sooke and Jordan River). And Sooke Road near Veterans Memorial Parkway was also single-lane early this morning due to an overnight vehicle incident.
