Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Sooke-to-Sydney Wounded Warrior one-day/media launch event had to be cancelled. In its stead, various runners from the Wounded Warrior Run BC (WWRBC) team all did local runs in their respective local areas.
Sooke’s runner Marissa, accompanied by two of her colleagues from the Otter Point Volunteer Fire Department ran 10km starting at the Otter Point FD Hall, and then to the Sooke Fire Department, RCMP Detachment, BC Ambulance Station and finished the Sooke Legion.
There, they were presented with a $500 donation and then all enjoyed a great breakfast.
Right now, the main run has been postponed. It is tentatively scheduled for April 11 to 18, 2021, but there are a number of logistical issues that need to be addressed, not the least of which is the current Covid-19 situation.
If conditions permit, and all the necessary permissions and support can be put in place, it will go ahead in April… fingers crossed!
Donations to the Wounded Warrior Run BC can be made on their website.
